Return

Alice Springs greets us again, much like an old friend. Shifting south from Darwin we settle back into Central Australia, lush and green after record rainfall. We're in a cosy little home, in a quiet court, with a view of the Western Macs.

Our beautiful Ava is doing very well, is happy-go-lucky and learning all the time. Check out her little video

We are very much enjoying the time and space living out here provides us a family.

We're both getting back into riding (slowly!). Jeremy has chosen bush tracks over the road this year, but I'm sticking to my awesome roadie and will be joining the new women's road group WOW (Women On Wheels). Looking forward to buying Ava her first bike too!!

Take care - visitors always welcome.

Ava in November

Darwin is, well, hot and humid and we now understand what mango madness is. Coming into cyclone season now - we hope there is nothing to prepare for!
Ava is going along swimmingly (so to speak) and is crawling (fast!); pulling herself up on the furniture and is in line to get her two front teeth for Christmas.
Hope you are all happy and well and are enjoying the lead up to the festive season. Send us all your news - please - anything is better than the NT News here.

Ava loves the water

Inspired by the toy box, Ava can now pull herself up!

Reading time again

Ava takes on James Joyce's Ulysses. She's got as much chance as anyone of finishing it.

Gone Troppo'

Well, the compass has turned North for us, after a last minute detour from the Capital Territory to the Northern Territory. We’ve moved into a tropical, elevated style home surrounded by palms. The house is cosy but the outdoor setting is fabulous - which counts for a lot in 90% humidity. The move has been an interesting one, including adventures such as having to forklift my piano into the house. Nana O’Connor would be proud and quite amused I’m sure.

Darwin is a unique place and is very different to any other capital city. We’re looking forward to some trips across to Asia given our close proximity to the region, and the low cost of flights.

Ava is as gorgeous as ever and is now crawling. We start swimming lessons this week, and she is already showing signs of becoming quite the water baby. Happy all the time, she’s adapted well to all the changes we’ve thrown at her.

Our new home in Yass is complete and we’re more than happy with it. We'll certainly enjoying moving into it in 2 years time. Until then, we’ll really appreciate the extra time that living in Darwin will allow us to spend with Ava.

A Star is Born

We welcomed our beautiful daughter Ava Alice Thuell to the world on 21st January 2010 at 9.58pm. She weighed in at 3820g and measured 52cm. With a shock of black hair, long eyelashes and chubby cheeks she is absolutely gorgeous.

We are settling in nicely as a family at home and simply love having the new addition in our lives. She is an amazing little thing and has brought us much joy.

Thank you all for your kind words and gifts to welcome Ava to our circle of family and friends.

Love,

Erin, Jeremy and Ava x

2009 In Review

Hi and love to you all. I thought I should add a photo review of our  2009. Check us out in New Zealand, Rainbow Valley and my 500km ride from Alice Springs to King’s Canyon.

Three days until Baby Thuell’s due date and no indication of an early arrival at this stage. Just patiently waiting it out in the Alice heat. We got double our annual rain fall in 4 days last week – check out the Todd River flowing. They say if you’ve seen the Todd flow 3 times, then you’re a local. This is our 6th time now, so I guess that means we’re part of the desert furniture out here.

Take care and baby news to come as soon as the little one is ready to join us.

Love, Erin & Jeremy

Christmas Greetings from the Red Centre

Jeremy and I wish you all a very happy Christmas and hope you are enjoying a break over the New Year.

We had a lovely Christmas Day and spoilt ourselves by going out for lunch this year. Our dogs didn’t miss out on the Christmas fun and enjoyed their gifts of Smackos. Jaz looks so cute and innocent here but surprised us yesterday by killing not one but two snakes in the backyard. Luckily she was the outright victor and seemed very pleased with herself. Hmmm. Leon just doesn’t seem to appreciate hats. I guess I don’t blame him.

Santa brought me a video camera this year, so watch out Cannes, here I come. Bub is cooking up nicely as we hit 37 weeks and we are trying to enjoy moments of sleep, good books, sleep and films before the life-changing event. I’m almost as big as the tree here, so am looking forward to bub living with us in the outside world.

More photo updates to come soon, including our trip to New Zealand and some desert roaming in Rainbow Valley.

lots of love,

Something to write home about

Checking our blog I notice that it’s been about 8 months since we’ve posted! Not that we haven’t had anything to write about, but I guess when you’re busy the time just falls away from you.

Our biggest news (and that you all already know) is the imminent arrival of Baby Thuell sometime in January. 34 weeks and counting, proven by the belly shot. It’s my last week of work this work and the relief is immense!

We’re also in the process of (trying) to build our home in Yass. Just waiting on Council approval which is taking an eon and has pushed back our plans to move to June 2010 now. Good things come to those that wait however, and we’re very excited to be moving back to the east coast to be closer to family and friends.

We hope that everyone has a beautiful Christmas and a safe holiday. Jeremy and I are staying put in the desert and treating ourselves to lunch out.

Lots more to post from the last part of the year, including photos from a beautiful holiday to New Zealand and my 500km ride to King’s Canyon (epic!). We’ll keep you updated.

Take care,

Erin, Jeremy & Baby Thuell
